NEW DELHI: Jugesh Ch. Pegu, an ace golfer added yet another feather to his glorious crown recently when he scored “Hole in One” at the Delhi Golf Course.
The classical shot, which is rare in nature was witnessed by Nabjit Sabti and Ashok Mallik at the 12th Hole Lodhi Course on January 15.
A former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, New Delhi, and an IRS officer of the 1984 batch, Mr. Pegu has been playing golf for the last 13 years and has been to almost all the reputed golf courses across the country, and abroad as well.
Some of the key golfing events he has won the trophies at, include Civil Services Cup, Thomas Cook Indian Golf League, Indo-Nippon Golf Cup, Admiral Golf Cup, and L-G Golf Cup.
Recently on March 6, he hosted a “Thanks Giving” party for his close friends to celebrate the golden shot “Hole-In-One”, which is a rare feat in any golfer’s career.
Those present during the party to share the joy of scoring Hole-In-One included Gajraj Bhati, Counsel General Ottawa (Designate); RS Rawal, IRS; Niranjan Kuli, IRS, Principal commissioner Income Tax, Faridabad; Ashok Mallik, Veteran Golfer; Navjot Sabti, a successful entrepreneur; Prakash Yadav, Founder, and Director, AJU Group of Japanese Hotels; Sanjeev K Ahuja, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Asian Community News (ACN) Network; Pradyuman Tripathy, Director-General, Customs; Giriraj Meena, Deputy Commissioner, Customs; Mukesh Arora, a successful industrialist; Vijay Jha, a well-known exporter, Dr. Ramashankar, and others.
On this occasion, Gajraji Bhati who was earlier posted in Afghanistan gifted Mr. Pegu a ceremonial dress of Afghanistan, which the latter wore with pride during the party.
Mr. Pegu also represents the Japan-India Business Incubation Centre (JIBIC) – an organization that promotes cross investment and facilitates the setting up of foreign companies from Japan and India

He joined Indian Revenue Service in 1984. Before joining the Income-tax department he had joined the State Bank of India as probationers and later managed a small rural branch in Assam. As an officer of income tax, Mr. Pegu had served in different parts of India particularly in Delhi, Assam, Gujarat, and Himachal Pradesh.
As an assessing officer, he had dealt with a variety of challenging cases including corporate, personal, firms, etc. During his tenure in Assam, he had handled all the complicated cases of North East. All the cases relating to tea gardens in NE and search & seizure cases of the region were handled at assessment and appeal late level. As an appellate authority in Delhi, all complicated cases of the country were handled
Mr. Pegu had also represented cases in the appellate tribunal and settlement commission in Delhi for several years. During his tenure at Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, he was responsible for administering tax laws and assessments. His 35-year experience spans various departments like Income tax administration, assessments, appellate, and others.
