This week I spent time with college students who have so much energy but did not know what to do for their livelihood because of the ongoing pandemic. We all decided to launch a student movement ‘Ab Har Student Banega AtmaNirbhar’, essentially a movement wherein we are trying to reimagine the Existing Outdated Campus Placement System and help students find work.
While setting targets on how many students we should have as part of the movement, I shared with them the Power of 10X and how it has shaped our startup journey at Jeevitam. The 10X Rule essentially says that we should set targets for ourselves that are10 times greater than what we believe we can achieve and we should take actions that are 10X greater than what we believe is necessary to achieve our goals.
I firmly believe the biggest mistake most of us make in life is not setting goals high enough and taking massive actions to fulfill our true potential. I shared with the students my experience of working in largest private sector bank wherein we used to first get audacious targets which were almost impossible to achieve, then we used to put our heads together to figure out how we are going to achieve those numbers given, take massive action and we used to achieve them as a team. Fear is a signal to do what we fear right now. We should not feed fear by waiting and letting it build. I think when people and businesses cut spending and focus on saving, which is the trend been seen in the ongoing crisis, should realise that they are also saving their energy, effort, and creativity as well.
One of the leading corporates entities defied this fear and had recently raised a huge amount of money from leading multinational companies and private equity players, showcasing them the huge opportunity.
I think success by others is an indication that something is possible. It should inspire us to Think Big. I keep saying that the ongoing crisis has provided a massive push for change, it’s an opportunity for everyone to reset the ways we Work & Live. We should Challenge traditions and established ways of thinking. In our startup Jeevitam, we have never played by the agreed norms of the industry, in fact, we have always questioned everything.
I believe we should Think Big, Dream Big, Believe Big, And Our Results Will Be Big.
