K-Pop artists keen on working with Bollywood stars, wish to compose Korean songs for Taj Mahal
NEW DELHI: With the rising popularity of Korean music, song, and dance summarily known as Korean pop or K-pop, especially among teenagers and youngsters, some K-pop stars are too inclined to associate with India and perform here as well. The members of newly formed all boy K-pop group KINGDOM, and also the girl group bigAboo that were visiting India on October 15-17 to perform in New Delhi during the ‘Rang De Korea’, have evinced their interest in working with Bollywood actors and also perform at popular Indian locations such as Taj Mahal.
According to Dann from Kingdom (킹덤) the group was overwhelmed with love it received from Indian fans, although they could not understand the language but the love, innocence and purity were felt through their gestures.
“If supported by the Indian government, they would like to make a song at Taj Mahal, giving a Fusion touch with Indian music. Given a proposal, they would love to work with Indian artists from Bollywood,” he said. Talking about favourite Indian artists, the group said Amir Khan’ of the popular movie 3 Idiots, and Shahrukh Khan of ‘My name is Khan’ fame were very famous in Korea. The band loves Indian food, Biryani, Chicken Curry Chicken Tikka are some of their regular course in Korea too.
A GF Entertainment group, KINGDOM currently consists of Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Hwon and Jahan.
When asked will KINGDOM think of dedicating a special song for the nest year 2023, which India and South Korea are going to celebrate big time as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and South Korea, Dann said that it was a good idea, and the group might think about that as well.
Choyeon the member of the all-girl group bugAboo (버가부) said the group had seen India through Indian movies, but being here for first time is exciting. “The love received from Indian K- Pop fan was beyond expectations. Language barriers surpassed as we were able to connect heart to heart. After tasting Indian curry, she wants to explore more of Indian curries,” she added.
A Team Entertainment’s 6-member girl group bugAboo consists of Eunchae, Yoona, Rainie, Cyan, Choyeon, and Zin.
When asked about the places they would like to visit in India all of them including boy and girl groups wanted to visit and see Taj Mahal, as they had read about this 7th wonder of the world in their textbooks during their schools time.
However, when told about the Queen Hwang-ok Huh (Heo) memorial park setup in Ayodhaya in Uttar Pradesh, the K-pop artists were thrilled to know about it and expressed their desire to visit that as well.
According to Korean ancient history book, Samguk Yusa, in AD 48, the Ayuta`s princess at the age of 16, crossed the ocean on a ship with Pasaseoktap on board under the order of her father and the king of Ayuta, and married to King Kim Suro, who founded Gaya in Korea. This Ayuta is considered as Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh. Based on this historical record along with other sources, Queen Huh story has been used to further strengthen cultural and diplomatic ties between India and Korea, Queen Huh memorial park at Ayodhya will be the essence and symbol of this cultural & diplomatic tie.
