NEW DELHI: India is in the grip of Korean pop fever, and it is evident from the fact that Asian Community News story “BTS coming but Indian Teenaged K-Pop fans Worried About Tickets Cost, Parent’s Permission” was read by over 1,80,000 K-pop fans across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and other Asian countries.
K-pop fans from Middle Eastern, European, and African countries too accessed this news. It narrated the plight of the hundreds of thousands of teenaged K-pop fans who find it hard to afford costly concert tickets and face familial restrictions from attending the concerts.
Interestingly, the K-pop fans organically accessed the story as there was no commercial or paid promotion of this news done to promote or enhance the readership on any social or mainstream media platform.
It is very likely that the world-famous Korean band BTS may visit India first sometime early next year during their first world tour in post corona pandemic era.
Last month in November also, the ACN story “Cheers K-pop fans! BTS Coming to India first on its next world tour” had received over 1,60,000 online hits in India and other countries.
The story “BTS coming but Indian Teenaged K-Pop fans Worried About Tickets Cost, Parent’s Permission” published on December 4 on www.asiancommunitynews.com evoked a huge response from the K-pop fans especially the teenagers from across the world, especially from Asian countries.
While agreeing with the essence of the news article Fathimaa Safa – a teenaged K-pop fan wrote to ACN, “ Oh…Its really happy (moment)….. BTS coming to India….but I can’t watch them…because am a teenager….and I don’t have enough money for tickets….but I really love BTS….I purple BTS…Pls come to India after 2 or 3 years…I want to see them…it’s my dream.”
About 1,62,000 K-pop fans read the story in India while the 1,710 in Nepal, 1,554 in Bangladesh, 1,308 in Pakistan, etc.
The story struck the right chord with the K-pop fans and are ARMY who are essentially the school students and come from middle-class conservative families who hardly know about K-pop or the related bands from Korea.
Manasavi Thakur, another teenaged K-pop fan from India says, “I am so-so happy that BTS is coming to India. They are always my inspiration. But there’s sad news. As I am a teenager, I don’t have much money to buy their tickets & my parents are also not allowing giving money and enjoying their concert….But still, I will support BTS & I will be the forever BTS army… …”
