New Delhi, December 20, 2024 – In a glittering ceremony held at the Qutub Golf Club on Friday evening, Mr. Kawng-il Lee was officially inaugurated as the 13th President of the Korean Association of India. The event, marked by grandeur and celebration, witnessed the presence of dignitaries from the Korean and Indian communities, including newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India Lee Seong-ho alongside members of the association and their families.

Mr. Lee’s election to the esteemed position is seen as a milestone in further strengthening these ties and ushering in a new era of leadership.

Mr. Kawng-il Lee’s remarkable career and dedication to the community have made him a natural choice for this role. As the CEO and Founder of SHINKWANG ELECTRONICS Pvt. Ltd., a position he has held since March 2002, Mr. Lee has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the business world. His tenure as Vice President of the Korean Association in India from January 2012 to December 2016 was marked by his commitment to fostering community welfare and enhancing bilateral ties between Korea and India.

Furthermore, his role as President of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC) India Branch from 2017 to 2023, and now as the Head of the South Western Asia Municipal Chapter of the council, showcases his dedication to broader diplomatic and cultural initiatives. His efforts were recently recognized with a Presidential Citation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in October 2024, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished leader in the Korean diaspora.

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Lee expressed his gratitude for the trust and responsibility bestowed upon him. “It is a great honor and privilege to have been elected as the 13th President of the Korean Association of India. I am deeply grateful for your trust and the responsibility you have entrusted to me,” he began.

Highlighting the dynamic relationship between Korea and India, he emphasized the role of the Korean community in fostering cultural and economic exchanges. “India, a nation with a rapidly growing economy and a population of 1.45 billion, represents an essential partner in shaping our future. Living in this dynamic country, we, as Koreans, play a vital role in fostering exchanges between Korea and India, while strengthening the friendship between our two nations,” Mr. Lee said.

He outlined his vision for the association, promising to promote cultural, economic, and social exchanges to build deeper understanding and closer ties between the two nations. He also committed to elevating the status of the Korean Association by promoting Korean culture through collaborations with local communities. Focusing on educational and cultural programs, he vowed to help the next generation grow with pride in their Korean heritage. Above all, he pledged to serve the community with humility and dedication.

Mr. Lee’s address resonated deeply with the audience, who applauded his vision and commitment. The ceremony concluded with a grand dinner, where members of the Korean and Indian communities mingled, reinforcing the bonds of friendship and collaboration.

As Mr. Kawng-il Lee takes the helm, the Korean Association of India looks forward to a future marked by unity, cultural exchange, and strengthened ties between Korea and India. His leadership is expected to bring new energy and direction to the association, ensuring its continued growth and relevance in the years to come.
