Korea Moves Forward: Pledges Stability, Global Cooperation Amid Leadership Transition

Seoul, South Korea—The Republic of Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yu In Chon, who also serves as the government’s official spokesperson, has reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to democratic values, national stability, and international cooperation following a landmark constitutional decision.

Recently, the Constitutional Court of Korea upheld the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, marking a significant chapter in the nation’s political history. In his official letter, Minister Yu thanked the global press for their continued interest in Korea’s democratic process. They offered detailed reassurances about the government’s direction during this transition period.

“Even in the absence of a sitting president,” Yu stated, “the Korean government has continued to operate all state functions normally in accordance with our Constitution and laws.” He emphasized that national institutions remain robust and fully operational, ensuring both domestic governance and Korea’s role on the international stage remain uninterrupted.

Security, economic stability, and diplomatic engagement were highlighted as key government priorities. According to the Minister, measures have been intensified to safeguard national defense and public order, and disaster response protocols are under review to ensure readiness. Financial markets are being carefully monitored, and active policy support is being extended to stabilize the economy and maintain global investor confidence.

Yu also addressed the upcoming presidential election, assuring that it would proceed as scheduled and in an orderly manner. “We will do all we can to ensure that the upcoming presidential election is carried out in an orderly manner so that the next administration can be launched as planned,” he affirmed.

He reiterated South Korea’s steadfast role as a responsible member of the international community, maintaining all diplomatic channels and cooperative efforts across the economy, security, culture, and multilateral engagements.

Closing his message with a direct appeal to the global press, Minister Yu urged journalists to help communicate to the world that Korea’s democratic institutions are working as intended. “It is my wish that all of you will make it widely known that Korea is maintaining political stability while continuing to work together with the international community,” he concluded.
