NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association (JKTA), in collaboration with Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) and supported by Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd, organized a charity event under the name of “Vishal Memorial JKTA Foundation Day Cup”. It was done in the memory of the JKTA founder Mr. Vishal Sharma on its 35th foundation day. The event was recently held simultaneously at 20 districts of J&K.
Korean Cultural Centre India specially participated in encouraging kids from slums, orphanages, and migrant colonies, who had great enthusiasm towards Taekwondo. KCCI will provide all winners Taekwondo uniforms, some Taekwondo training equipment, and open Taekwondo webinar program for the children and youth.
Mr.Hwang Il-yong, the director of Korean Cultural Centre India said, we are concerned about the recent social issue, children and youth`s education deficiency during the pandemic situation. I appreciate Samsung India`s willing support to children and youth who are learning Taekwondo in challenging environments. I am very happy to see all participants` smiling faces, and their zestful physical movements. I hope we may reach out to more children and youth for providing them with more educational and cultural nutrients more through our culture, language, and Taekwondo programs.
The championship was held for people of all age groups and was also open for Para-athletes. It witnessed 2000 participants from all over the Union Territory. The Official bearer of the association said, “The event was one of the largest, most inclusive, unified, diverse Taekwondo Championships in the history of J&K-UT”.
