Haryana CM to meet Korean honchos at India Korea Golf Meet today

Gurugram (Gurgaon). Koreans not only love playing golf, but they also mean business while doing so.

Today on Friday, the top-notch executives of about two dozen Korean MNCs like Hyundai, Kia, Lotte, Doosan, Posco, NongHyup (NH) Bank, and others are playing golf in Gurugram – the city of the maximum number of world-class golf courses in the country, with the Haryana government officers to explore investment opportunities here.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would also be reaching the golf club to meet the executives of the Korean firms as well as heads of various Korean trade associations like Korea International Trade Association (KITA) as well as the Korean embassy officials.

Since Golf is a popular sport for Korean business leaders, a networking event of such sort will be significant in providing a platform for Korean companies to understand the support being provided by the Haryana Government while enabling the state Government to understand the interests and issues of the Korean investors’ community, feel the organizers.

The Government of Haryana with Invest India are the organizers of the event ‘The India Korea Golf Meet’ and Korea plus, Korea International Trade Association (KITA), HEPC are providing their support. The Embassy of the Republic of South Korea in India is also participating in the event.

The CXOs of more than 20 Korean companies in Haryana including, Samsung Electronics, Hyosung Corporation, Hyundai, Kia, NongHyup (NH) Bank, Lotte Confectionary, Orion, Lotte Chem, CJ India, SK Lubricants,  Amorepacific, Doosan Power Systems, Posco,  DY Auto, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, K.B. Kookmin Bank would be participating in this Golf Meet.

The Secretaries of Government of India and Haryana Government have been invited to play Golf with Korean investors in this Meet.

The venue is DLF Golf and country club, Golf Course Road, DLF Phase-5 Gurugram.

Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Haryana for Industries and Commerce, Devender Singh said that there is an increasing presence of Korean companies in Haryana for both manufacturing facilities and corporate offices.

“With Hyundai’s recent investment in Gurugram and Haryana Government’s strong support, we believe that more companies will be looking at Haryana as an attractive investment destination. About the synergies and future opportunities for collaboration,” he said adding that the focus sectors that Haryana is actively facilitating align with the major investment sectors of the Republic of Korea.

Therefore, there is a large scope for utilization of synergies present between Haryana and the Korean business community. Many Korean companies have their Head Quarters and sales offices in Gurugram.

Singh hoped that these companies might want to establish manufacturing facilities in Haryana as it would be close to their HQ, networking opportunities like these will prove to be an avenue for exploration of further collaboration.

He said that India and the Republic of Korea historically share a strategic economic and cultural relationship. In the last four years, this relationship has further strengthened and recent visits by the Heads of States of both countries have reiterated their commitment to leveraging this partnership to foster mutual growth.
