KOSME, an offshoot of Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups, successfully rolled out its maiden batch of 25 trainees comprising of 19 Indian employees of Korean SMEs and six Korean language learning students of Indian universities at its Global Business Center based in DLF Cyber City.
KOSME executed the project with the support of IBS Global Consulting – an international business consulting firm that specialize in helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) create sustainable growth through successful expansion into international markets. It assists companies in the U.S. and abroad in entering or expanding into markets throughout North America, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
In an interview with Asian Community News (ACN) Network, LEE Jae Kyeong, Director, KOSME, New Delhi said that KOSME has already completed the first training course for a total of 25 beneficiaries from April 5th to May 17th at GBC. The trainees include 19 talented individuals working in Korean companies and six graduating students from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia University.
While reasoning the initiative, Mr. LEE said after he took office in January this year, he noticed many a Korean SMEs entering India were led by 1-2 Korean managers and all tasks such as tax, legal, human resources, marketing, etc. were handled through locally recruited personnel.
“For these Korean SMEs to succeed in India, it is important strike good understanding between Korean manager and Indian employees who should understand Korean corporate culture, and strengthen their official work capabilities. The situation in India has rapidly evolved from the PC-using generation to the mobile generation, and it needs to hone their skills on MS Word, Excel, Power Points, etc. using PCs,” he added.
This is what prompted KOSME to launch a program to equip Indian employees with the basic capabilities to work for Korean companies so that Korean companies and Indian talent can grow mutually.
Although there were some difficulties in developing and applying it in a short period of time, a total of six-lecture programs was developed and implemented by sufficiently reflecting the opinions of small and medium-sized businesses.
The course module comprised of training employees on effective utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve company work efficiency , work ethics for providing motivation for growth through understanding basic work ethics in Korean companies, MS Excel for intermediate and advanced level training in Excel skills, MS PowerPoint for effective presentation skills, understanding of Korean corporate culture, and elementary Korean language in business perspective mainly used in Korean companies.
Mr. LEE said, “We also look forward to conducting more training programs like this in the future to build closer relationships between Korean companies and Indian talents. In this Competency Skills Training Program, IBS Consultation was very helpful in planning the first session and making it a reality.
While sharing the vision of the company Ms. Hyeejung Cho, Managing Director, IBS Global Consulting, said, “We aspire to develop the competency skills training program to contribute to the growth and development of Korea and India.”
