Korean Veteran & Global Eco Expert KIM Moon Young joins ACN Advisory Board, an Asian Think Tank
Having authored a book on India “3000 Years of Karma Legacy – An Indian Baniya Story” (3000 년 ‘카르마‘가 낳은 인도상인 이야기) published by ACN Network, KIM has deep-rooted connect with India since 1998.
NEW DELHI/SEOUL: Global trade expert and former Managing Director (South Asia Head Quarter, New Delhi) of the Korean government’s Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and author KIM Moon Young has joined the ACN Advisory Board as an Honorary Board Member. Currently based in Seoul, Mr. KIM is working as an Assistant Professor with SolBridge International School of Business, an AACSB-accredited business school in Daejeon, South Korea.
KOTRA is Korea’s most representative national Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) and Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) under the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Resource. ACN Editorial Advisory Board welcomes MR. KIM to this Asian Think Tank, which is all set to greatly benefit from his rich experience and insightful ideas and thoughts.
Mr. KIM’s stint with India began 25 years back in 1998 when he volunteered for the KOTRA New Delhi office as his first overseas appointment and remained there for 4 years till 2002. His professional career took off with KOTRA in 1992 when he joined its Asia Research Division. After being at KOTRA New York Office from 2006-2010, Bangkok Office 2013-2016, and Economic Strategy Dept, Big Data Dept (2016-2018) as Director in all three locations, he again returned to India in 2018 to join the 6th Indian center of KOTRA in Ahmedabad, where he served for one year before moving to New Delhi headquarters.
In 2019 he assumed his coveted position of MD, Managing Director, South Asia Head Quarter, New Delhi of KOTRA administers nine regional offices – New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Dhaka, Karachi, and Colombo. In 2021 he joined KOTRA headquarters in Seoul as Director of its India Economy & Business Research Center.
Born in Chungju City in 1963 in South Korea, Mr. KIM is currently working on his doctoral thesis on ‘Comparative Analysis of Indian FDI in the context of China, South Korea and Thailand’ at Jamia Millia Islamia University in India. He attained his initial education at Chungju High School and later went to Seoul National University, Law College (BA) in 1986. He went to Brandeis University (Boston, US) to do MA (Economics) in International Economics and Development in 2005. He also did his Master’s from Yonsei University in Economics on the subject “Analysis of Re-import of Japanese MNCs from ASEAN & China and its impact on South Korea’s export to Japan in the 1990s.”

This book in the English language was published by Asian Community News (ACN) Network for the convenience of Indian readers. It was an inspiration by Mr. Kim’s original book “3000 년 ‘카르마‘가 낳은 인도상인 이야기”, which was written in Korean language and printed in Seoul in 2020

The government awards conferred on Mr. KIM include Minister, Ministry of Trade, Resource (2020), and Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Planning and Budget (2017).
