NEW DELHI: LEE Jae Kyeong, Managing Director of KOSME, has been honored with the prestigious Business Excellence and Innovative Best Practices – Academia Award 2024 by the New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM). This award is a significant recognition for individuals who have made impactful contributions in business leadership, innovation, and global collaboration.

Since assuming his role on January 1, 2024, Mr. LEE has implemented several key initiatives aimed at bolstering the presence of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in India. Under his leadership, KOSME is set to double the capacity of its Global Business Center (GBC) located in DLF Cyber City, expanding from 30 to 60 Korean SMEs and startups.

This expansion is designed to accommodate the anticipated influx of Korean businesses seeking opportunities in India, particularly as the country emerges as a favorable alternative to China and Southeast Asia due to shifts in the Global Value Chain (GVC).

The GBC provides essential support services for Korean SMEs, including subsidized office space and consulting on localization, logistics, and employee recruitment. So far, KOSME has assisted over 100 startups in navigating the competitive Indian market. Mr. Lee emphasizes that India’s youthful demographic and high economic growth rate present abundant opportunities for Korean businesses.

In addition to infrastructure expansion, Mr. LEE launched a Competency Skills Training Program aimed at enhancing the skills of Indian employees working for Korean SMEs. This initiative includes a six-lecture module designed by IBS Global Consulting to improve productivity and familiarize employees with Korean work culture and ethics. The first batch of 25 trainees completed their training earlier this year, showcasing Mr. LEE ‘s commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment that bridges cultural gaps between Korean managers and Indian staff.
