Lancers Int’l School Celebrates Diversity by hosting Korean Festival
Hosting students from more than 40 nations, the Lancers International School boasts of a heavy presence of students of Korean nationality as every 7th student in this school is a Korean.
Gurugram, India – Continuing with their tradition of embracing and celebrating diversity, Lancers International School Gurgaon proudly hosted its Korean Festival on 5th March, 2025 at its premises, an exciting event that showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Republic of Korea. The event was graced by some distinguished dignitaries – Ms. Chon Eui-jin, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea as the Chief Guest, and was accompanied by the Third Secretary at the embassy Kim Tae Kyung. Dr. Choongjae Cho, Director, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), New Delhi, marked his presence as the Guest of Honour at the event.
The school authorities informed the visiting guests that hosting students from more than 40 nations, the Lancers International School boasts of a heavy presence of students of Korean nationality as every 7th student in this school is a Korean. Out of a total of about 700 students, the school has 98 students of Korean nationality.
The event opened with a presentation on Korean’s cultural history and food, followed by traditional fan dance and songs that captivated the audience. The audience was also treated to a demonstration of Taekwondo, where the students displayed their skills. The performances highlighted the beauty of Korean culture and gave attendees a glimpse into its rich history.
“This festival is an opportunity for everyone to experience the traditions, food, and art that make Korea so unique. It’s been amazing to see our students and community come together to learn and celebrate.”
Food was a major highlight of the festival, with a variety of Korean delicacies available for tasting. Popular dishes like kimchi jjim, kimbap, and dakgalbi were served, providing an authentic culinary experience for those in attendance.
In addition to the food and performances, the event featured a variety of booths where the students engaged in various cultural activities. The interesting element of the event was the fact that it was a collaborative effort between school authorities and the parents of the students.
Appreciating the students and parents’ efforts, Ms. Chon Eui-jin, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, said, “The Korean Festival by Lancers is truly a celebration of diversity, unity, and the power of cultural exchange. I am in awe seeing the tireless efforts made by the Korean parents and these young Lancerians to showcase the richness of their culture.”
