Yutaka Karakida, President of Karakida Flour Milling Co., Ltd., commented, “The domestic dried noodle soba market has been declining in recent years, and sales of our dried noodle soba have also been challenging. We have always wanted to sell and market our premium dried noodle soba overseas to boost our overall sales. This export project to India came at an ideal time. Exporting to a market like India, where dried noodle soba is not well known, presents a great opportunity. We aim to introduce Japan’s traditional and popular food item “soba noodles” through our top-brand Karakida Premium Shinshu Soba Noodles to India and the World, aiming for further sales expansion.”
Six companies – Karakida, Koyo Japan, Heart-en International, La Ditta Singapore, Sushi and More India, and Hybrid Designs across three countries – Japan, Singapore, and India, led by Harry Hakuei Kosato, the Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador, are behind the whole project.
Harry Hakuei Kosato, Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador in India commented, “I am very pleased that we could achieve the rapid production and shipment in five months for a project that started in December last year. Imports sometimes are a challenge, but it is great to see sales start in November of this year. Most of the people of India have never yet tried eating authentic soba noodles from Japan. Following the two popular dishes globally of “sushi” and “ramen”, we believe Karakida Premium Shinshu Soba Noodles will become quite popular in India, as we wish Indian people to enjoy the best of authentic Japanese products like Karakida’s. Importantly, Karakida’s product is Made in Japan, is authentic, and FSSAI approved, unlike many other soba products which are sold in India now.”
According to Harry, the Karakida Premium Shinshu Soba Noodles product has been developed under the concept of “Made in Japan for India, and the World” which has five key development points. The company aims to develop a quality soba that allows people in India and around the world to enjoy soba’s true original deliciousness, ensuring attractive English packaging for the soba noodles product aimed at India and the world, and providing exciting recipes that food enthusiasts in India will appreciate, created by professional chefs in India.
The company also aims at featuring Kikkoman India’s soy sauce on the back of the soba noodles packaging, this naturally brewed soy sauce that pairs well with soba noodles, and actively promoting soba noodles in various activities in India and globally as well.
