May 8: Indian Students and Researchers in Korea – ISRK celebrates its foundation day in Seoul
Representing over 3,500 Indian students, researchers, and scientists in Korea, the ISRK is a non-profit voluntary organization that was formed in 2019 to support Indian-origin researchers and students there.
SEOUL: Seoul-based students’ welfare organization Indian Students and Researchers in Korea (ISRK) is celebrating its foundation day on May 8 when it completes three years of successful operations.
With this, the ISRK will also complete one year of bringing awareness about the contribution and achievements of distinguished Indian heroes in the Science & Technology sphere.
Representing over 3,500 Indian students, researchers, and scientists operating in Korea, the ISRK is a non-profit voluntary organization to support Indian-origin researchers and students there. It was set up on 8th May 2019 with the idea to bring all Indian students and researchers in Korea under a single platform to support and help the community in academic and professional areas, as well as to assist to adjust with life in Korea.
Iqbal Khazi as vice-president and Vibhu Jain as a head of the advisory committee of ISRK, have played key role in building this plateform helpful to most of the Indian students and researchers.
On the occasion of its Foundation day this year, the ISRK has plans to launch an Annual Magazine containing work done by this organisation so far.
The event will also consist of enthusiastic engagement from Indian and Korean nationals who will participate in the rejuvenating performances involving arts, dance, and music as well as infographics of renowned scientist Prof. M.M. Sharma.
However, in the run up to the foundation day event, ISRK has planned to launch many pre-event activities from April 22 to May 6 in different categories such as Kids Fancy Dress along with a short video on renowned Indian Personalities, University Campus Tour video, University Photo Collage, Tagline for ISRK annual Magazine, Cover Photo for ISRK annual Magazine, and ISRK Anthem/Song Composition. The participants are being told that the ISRK Tagline, Cover Photo and ISRK song composition should reflect ISRK objectives.
From each category, one best entry will be selected for exciting prizes. All entries will be uploaded on ISRK YouTube after the announcements of the winners.
Dr. Lailesh Kumar is the President, ISRK, and is a Senior Research Scientist with PineTree PosMagnesium Co. Ltd., (Earlier Posco Magnesium Strip Plant). Previously, he was a Post-doctoral Researcher with Seoul National University·
With a representation of more than 3,500 Indian origin students, researchers, scholars and academicians, scientists and professors, and 100 Indian student representatives from more than 50 universities of South Korea, the ISRK has been offering educational, research, social, recreational, career, and community support to them since April 2019.
He said that ISRK aimed a connect all the Indian origin students and researchers residing in South Korea and provide them with educational, research, social, recreational, job, and community support.
ISRK is open to all Indian students and researchers, as well as professionals from the industry and corporates interested in its objectives.
“As part of our continuous growth in Korea and mutual efforts to continue to strengthen relationships between Korea and India, ISRK has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research Center of Indian Culture on Science and Technology (RIST), Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), SENTBE Remittance and Chakra Indian Restaurant to deepen the collaboration between these associations,” Dr. Kumar added.
