Media Federation of India goes global, inks pact with Russian media house Sputnik
MFI has ambitious plans to set up its foreign chapters globally in all major continents including Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia.
NEW DELHI: India’s apex media representative body Media Federation of India (MFI) has joined hands with Russia’s leading news agency Sputnik News to promote cross-border exchange and cooperation in the media and news sphere. An agreement (MoU) to this effect was signed between the two sides during the 17th Media Excellence Awards & International Seminar recently at Pyarelal Auditorium in New Delhi. Arun Sharma, National President, MFI, and Ms. Olga Doycheva, Chief Representative in India signed the understanding on the behalf of their respective organisations.
Arun Sharma, National President of MFI that represents over 15,000 journalists across India in 24 states, said that the MFI has ambitious plans to set up its foreign chapters globally in all major continents including Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia. It is also working to bridge the gap between the media industry and academia besides providing benefits and support to the journalist community and raise the level of their exposure from local to global level.
“By working closely with foreign journalists from all over the world, we have also extended engagements with foreign professionals to do notable work in providing skill development to journalists and exposure of best global practices for adaptation. Under this new operations Federation is coming up with international conferences – awards – programs and foreign exchange program for journalists as well as media academicians,” said Arun Sharma, National President, MFI.

Previously, the ACN Network and MFI entered into an agreement to work together to expand MFI’s footprint in Asian nations by collaborating with media organisations and associations of these countries.
Euy Don Park, President, United Korean Community Association, said that South Korea and India were celebrating the ongoing year 2023 as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, and a series of events were planned during this year further strengthen ties between the two sides.
Peters L Y Chen, Director, Ministry of Education, Taiwan disclosed that Taiwan offered ample higher education opportunities to the Indian youth for advanced studies and also offered scholarships.
During the 17th Media Excellence Awards & International Seminar, India’s top personalities drawn from various fields including media educators, Public Sector Units (PSUs), academia, students, etc. were honoured.
