More Delhi schools look for collaborations with Taiwanese academic institutions, take interest in mandarin

Led by IP & Delhi Sahodaya School, a group of principals of higher secondary schools visited the education division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in New Delhi.

NEW DELHI: Various reputed schools in Delhi have exhibited their interest in introducing mandarin languages and Taiwanese studies to their students.
Recently, a group of principals of higher secondary schools visited the education division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in New Delhi to understand the importance of Mandarin (Chinese) language and various opportunities available in Taiwan for the Indian students, as well as the possibilities of tie-ups with the Taiwan-based educational institutions.
In this context, the TECC’s Education Division organised the International Education and Cultural Experience Program under the International Education Window Program 2.0 at its premises. Peters LY Chen, Director of Education Division, TECC informed the principals about the vast opportunities Taiwan offered to Indian students.
“Not many people in India know that 80% of the chips the mobile phones people carry here are manufactured by Taiwanese company Media Tech. Taiwanese companies have achieved many marvels in the global world including numerous inventions in their kitty, and thus they offer unlimited opportunities to those knowing Mandarin language,” said Mr. Chen.
The ministry of education of Taiwan has initiated a project International Education Window Program 2.0 for collaborating on school levels, and lay a foundation of strengthening the relationship between Taiwan and India, and open more career opportunities for students from both countries.
Led by Ms. Jyoti Arora, President, IP & Delhi Sahodaya Schools, and principal of Mount Abu Public School, about 36 principals and heads of some of the leading schools from New Delhi took keen interest in the subject. Ms. Alka Kapur, President, Delhi Sahodaya Schools Complex, and principal, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, also led a contingent of principals to the TECC’s event.
The participating principals included Vividh Gupta from Bal Bhawan Public School, Mrs. Rashmi Raj Biswal Principal of D. A. V. Public School, Pitampura, Dr. Reeta Hashia from The Brilliant’s Convent School, Ms. Pooja Gupta from Spring Days School. Ms. Sadhna Bhalla from Mira Model School, Ms. Swarnima Luthra from ASN Senior Secondary School, Ms. Priyanka Gulati from Evergreen Public School, Ms. Rashmi Malik from Salwan Public School,
Dr. Rachna Saddi from Sumermal Jain Public School, and Ms. Mini Khanna from Evergreen Schools signed the MoU sent by the Taiwanese schools for these Indian Schools respectively along with other Indian School principals.
The event was followed by the presentation to help the principals to find suitable partner schools from Taiwan for the exchange program followed by the Q&A Series.
In her address, Principal Jyoti Arora from Mount Abu School, the winner of National Teachers Award 2020, Governing Body Member, CBSE, National Commissioner, Hindustan Scouts and Guides, and President of IP & Delhi Sahodaya, suggested ways to have possible collaborations which can be beneficial for the Schools in Taiwan as well as in India. She also thanked Director Peters LY Chen and his entire team for organizing the event.
Mr. Sanjeev K Ahuja, Senior Editor, Foreign Affairs (Asia) of Asian Community News Network highlighted the importance of Asian languages in a very close context with the future prospects for Indian youths.
“The 21 century belongs to Asia and Asian nations are going to play a pivotal role in setting up the new world order. We must encourage our youth to take interest in the Asian languages as the corporate world offer humongous employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for them,” he added.
Mr. Zafar, an alumnai of Jamia Millia Islamia University shared his experience of staying in Taiwan and learning mandarin language there.
In an interesting development, the Director of Education Division Mr. Chen demonstrated the culture of drinking Taiwanese Tea with the principals.
