New Delhi: The third edition of the Nakshatra International Art Festival, organized by Luna Arts, marked a historic milestone as it expanded to the international stage with its inaugural ceremony at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS).
Nakshatra International Art Festival 2024 marked a significant leap for Luna Arts, elevating its profile in the global art community. The event not only celebrated artistic excellence but also reinforced New Delhi’s status as a hub for international cultural exchange, leaving art enthusiasts with a memorable experience.
The six-day exhibition, running from November 30 to December 5, 2024, brought together 43 artists and photographers from India, Poland, the UK, Hungary, and Nigeria.
The grand opening ceremony, held on November 29, was presided over by Prof. Biman B. Das, Padma Shri awardee and Chairman of AIFACS, and Dr. Magdalena Filipczuk, Deputy Director, Polish Institute New Delhi and Second Secretary, Embassy of Poland in New Delhi as Chief Guests.
The event also saw the presence of distinguished personalities, including Dr. Bhupesh Chandra Little, Head of the Department of Applied Arts at Jamia Millia Islamia; Ajay Samir, a renowned artist; Roop Chand, Chairman of Roop Chand Institute of Fine Arts; and Sanjeev K Ahuja, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Asian Community News (ACN) Network.
After congratulating the brother-sister duo Tushar and Smita for entering the international scene of art and photography exhibition, the guests went around the gallery to closely look at the art and photography works of the participating artists.
Held at AIFACS, an iconic institution founded in 1928 to promote Indian art on the global stage, the exhibition blended tradition with innovation. The venue, located adjacent to India’s new Parliament, provided a culturally resonant backdrop for the festival, which showcased a vibrant mix of paintings, sculptures, and photography.
One of the exhibition’s highlights was the 7 Chakras Project, created exclusively for Nakshatra 2024 by Polish artists Joanna Zienkiewicz and Janusz Kobeszko. This project, which explored themes of harmony and balance through intuitive art, marked Joanna’s international debut, as her previous work had been displayed only in Poland. Another major attraction was UK-based photographer Jamie Fettis’s River Tyne Series, which captured the seasonal interplay of light and water ripples, offering a serene depiction of spring and summer along the River Tyne.
The festival also celebrated cultural diversity by featuring artists and photographers from India, Poland, the UK, Hungary, and Nigeria, creating a rich tapestry of global artistic expression. The collaboration with FUNDACJA SZTUKA W INWESTYCJI Warsaw, Poland further underscored the festival’s international ambitions, transforming it into a platform for cross-cultural dialogue.
