NEC to train youths from northeastern states on Japanese language, culture and skills
New Delhi. If all goes well as per the plan, the youths of northeastern states of India will soon get professional training on Japanese language, culture, and skills.
The training which is aimed at making the youths employable in Japanese companies is likely to be provided at about 150 vocational training centers by the professionals of the Japanese corporate & technology giant NEC Technologies India (NECTI).
The India-Japan Business Promotion Council, ASSOCHAM which is the coordinating agency also for this proposed program, is organizing a conference titled “India Japan-India Social, Economic, and Cultural Compatibility” on August 8 in New Delhi”, with special focus on Japan Invest-North East India.
With NEC Technologies India being the knowledge partner of the conference, and JCCII the conference partner, the event would also witness the presence of Nitin J Gadkari, the union minister of Road Transport and Highways & Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Kenko Sone, Minister of Economy, Embassy of Japan in India has also been invited to speak on ‘Relations between North East India and Japan.
Besides Balkrishan Goenka, President, ASSOCHAM, Dr. Jitender Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charges), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Vincent H Pala, Member of Parliament, Shillong will also be present in the inaugural session on August 8,
According to Rahul Sharma, chairman, India-Japan Business Promotion Council, ASSOCHAM, the proposed training on Japanese language, culture, and skills to be imparted to the youths of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura will cascading effect on Indo-Japan relationship.
“Japan has the technology but lacks manpower whereas north-eastern states of India lack employment opportunities. Therefore, the idea is to train youths to make them eligible for employment in Japanese companies. We plan to start this program by the NEC Technologies India. We would approach JICA requesting it for financial assistance to NEC for this,” Sharma told Asian Community News (ACN) Network.
NEC Technologies India has a dedicated language and intercultural training academy NEC Japanese Language Academy (NJLA) in New Delhi for imparting training on Japanese language, culture, and Japanese business practices.
The proposed training module which is yet to take the final shape is likely to entail training on Japanese language, culture, and skills in nursing care, hospitality, basic information technology (IT) knowledge and agriculture skills sector.
“Training on Japanese technology for skills will make the youths eligible for employment in Japan and Japanese companies anywhere in the world, as well as enhance employment opportunities in India also after they return from Japan. NEC may get Japanese teachers from Japan for this plan,” said Sharma.
Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is one of the apex trade associations of India. The organisation represents the interests of trade and commerce in India and acts as an interface between issues and initiatives.
