Prime Minister invited Yoon to visit India at his earliest convenience
In the election results announced in the wee hours on March 10, Yoon Suk-yeol – a political novice and former chief prosecutor from the conservative People Power Party had defeated his close rival Lee Jae-myung of the incumbent Democratic Party with a thin margin of 0.7 percent (2,40,000 votes) to emerge as the President of the Republic of Korea for the next five-year term.
The past President Moon Jae-in also represented the governing Democratic Party but was not allowed to contest polls as the constitution of the country doesn’t allow re-election of the incumbent president.
