New Delhi [India], December 2: In a moment of immense pride for India and Haryana, celebrated athlete Ranveer Singh Saini, who has a 50% intellectual disability, will be awarded the prestigious Shresht Divyangjan Award by the Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The award will be presented by the Hon’ble President of India during a ceremony on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, recognizing his exceptional achievements and contributions to inspiring the disability community.

Ranveer Singh Saini is the only individual from Haryana with intellectual disabilities to receive this esteemed national honor. Known for his groundbreaking accomplishments, Saini made history as the first Indian to win a gold medal in golf at the World Special Olympics Games 2015 in Los Angeles.

He continued to bring laurels to India with a silver medal at the 2019 World Games in Abu Dhabi and another gold medal at the 2023 World Games in Berlin, making him a beacon of hope and motivation for millions.

With an impressive career that includes 11 national championships and five Asia Pacific titles, Saini has received numerous accolades, including the Bhim Award and the Khel Gaurav Puraskar from the Haryana Government.

His extraordinary journey has been recognized on platforms such as the Limca Book of Records, where he holds seven entries, and his name is etched as a “Flame Keeper” at Chicago’s iconic Soldier Field Stadium, a tribute to his contributions to the Special Olympics.

Saini’s influence extends beyond sports. He has been a source of inspiration, often invited to speak at schools, colleges, and corporate events, where he shares his story of perseverance and triumph over challenges stemming from his intellectual disability since birth.

He was also honored by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during the “Mann Ki Baat” program, further amplifying his impact on the nation.
