South Korean MNC Seoul Semiconductor supports Karnataka with high-end medical supplies to fight COVID-19
BENGALURU: South Korea-based multinational company Seoul Semiconductor – a leading compound semiconductor solution provider came forward on Friday to support the Karnataka government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with its high-end medical supplies including masks, gloves, PPE kits, and innovative Mobile Air Purifiers.
Seoul Semiconductor handed over 30,000 masks, 20,000 gloves, 100 PPE kits, and 2,500 Mobile Air purifiers to the Karnataka government authorities in the presence of state Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan in Bangaluru during the hybrid event held in Bangaluru.
Valuing approximately Rs. 7.5 crore, the medical supplies include high-grade medical-user Masks (KF94), Gloves (UV protective/sterilized /high grade non-porous), PPE Kits, to be used by doctors, primary health workers, Covid warriors, etc, and Mobile Air purifier with patented Violeds technology for air sterilization of ICU Wards, ambulances, PCR booths, and police vehicles.
While addressing the senior management of Seoul Semiconductor that joined the meeting virtually from South Korea, Deputy Chief Minister Narayan said, “In this situation of Covid-19 pandemic, you have had no boundary for humanity, you wanted to reach out and be part of this war or a solution to address the Covid 19. I appreciate the gesture of Seoul Semiconductor on the behalf of people of Karnataka and India.”
Narayan, who holds the IT, biotech, science, and technology portfolios, and heads the Covid task force set up by the state government to fight the pandemic, further said, “Culturally, India and Korea share a lot of commonalities. Our country is a land of Buddha. I appreciate for coming forwards to extend your cooperation in the form of the large number of masks, gloves, mobile air-purifiers.”
The top management of the Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul Viosys that joined the conference virtually from Korea included Jung Harry, Kim Andy, and HM Kim while Seoul Semiconductor, Country Vice-President Arshi Krishnachar was present at the deputy CM office in Bangaluru.
HM Kim, In-Charge, Seoul Viosys, the sister concern of Seoul Semiconductor, struck an emotional cord between India and Korea.
While referring to India’s support to South Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War when North and South Korea fought a bloody war, Kim said, “Korean people appreciate that 70 years ago in November 1950 during the Korean war, India rushed 627 para-medics to support wounded South Korea soldiers. We are friends. Korean will never forget this support.
“All Korean schools in their elementary history textbooks have the story of Indian princess Suriratna marrying the Korean king Kim Suro about 2000 years back in 48AD. All that is mentioned in the elementary school textbooks,” Kim added.
Later speaking to the Asian Community News (ACN) Network, Arshi Krishnachar, Country Vice-President, Seoul Semiconductor, said, “When the massive spread of the second wave irrupted, our company was very proactive in bringing this hi-end medical users masks and gloves which are treated with UV. It is a very quick action from our company to support the most important people on the field starting from doctors, staff nurses, BBMP workers, Covid warriors, paramedical forces, and policemen.”
He further said, “We did not stop at this stage, we quickly increased production capacity, and planned to import 5000 Mobile Air Purifiers from Korea. As a first phase initiative, we have delivered 2,500 of these purifiers to Karnataka. These purifiers will protect our friends in the field while they are ferrying Covid patients in their vehicles. The total worth of the medical supplies we are supplying is approximately 7.5 Crores INR.”
