South Korean NH Nonghyup Bank continues to support Indian schools despite tough times

NEW DELHI: The NH Nonghyup Bank ranked as No. 1 social contribution bank in Korea for 7 consecutive years since 2011, carries on with its legacy in India too as its continues to lends its support to two schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Every year, school facilities, educational equipment, school supplies, and refreshment are provided to NIV Elementary School and Faridpur Elementary School in Noida.

As the latest activity on December 21, 2020, the bank sent its assistance to the Faridpur Elementary School.

The NH Nonghyup Bank’s support for these schools includes installing and supporting educational equipment such as desks and blackboards, solar power generation facilities, and groundwater pumps.

Noida Faridpur Elementary School, which the NH Bank has been supporting and supporting since last year, is a school with approximately 150 students, and there are only buildings with no school gates or classroom doors. Staff members of NH Nonghyup Bank’s New Delhi office who visited the school in early 2019 and looked at the school were saddened by the poor school facilities.

“So, first of all, we made and applied a desk to improve the situation where we had to take classes on the cold classroom floor. However, NH Nonghyup Bank’s New Delhi office was a small organization at the time, so due to budget limitations, we had no choice but to support as many desks and chairs as half the students could use. Although half of the students were able to take classes more comfortably away from the cold and uncomfortable floor, it was a pity that the other half was not,” said a bank official.

As a result, NH Nonghyup Bank’s New Delhi office operated the business more economically, and at the end of 2019, it was possible to secure the saved budget. With the savings secured, the other half of the students were able to support desks and chairs.

Sung-chang Hong, Managing Director of the New Delhi office, remembered the feelings at that time that he was grateful that he and the employees were able to keep their promise with themselves, “We will definitely secure more desks for the rest of the students and come back till the end of the year.”

This year, due to the corona pandemic, NH Nonghyup Bank’s New Delhi office also had many management difficulties.

“However, I couldn’t forget the flickering eyes of the students of Faridpur Elementary School, who were still in a harsh environment. In December, we persuaded the head office in Korea to once again prepare and support school supplies and masks for all students. Despite the coronavirus situation, we hope that all teachers and students are able to continue their meaningful studies safely at school,” Sung-chang Hong added.

All employees of the New Delhi office are still working hard to become NH Nonghyup Bank that can help neighbors in need with a small but continuous interest and service.
