Special lectures series by IJBC and IJL to take off on Feb 26: 70th Anniversary celebrations of India-Japan diplomatic relations
NEW DELHI/PUNE: The Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC) and India Japan Laboratories (IJL), Keio University will jointly host Special Lectures Series on various facets of the India-Japan relationship during the current year as part of the commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations.
The first session of the ‘Special Lectures Series’ is being launched on February 26 with the title ‘India Japan: How Near, How Far’.
“Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Japan; Hiroshi Hirabayashi, Former Ambassador to India, France, Chairman of JFSS, and Prof. Tomohiko Taniguchi, Keio University Graduate School of System Design and Management, Special Adviser to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Cabinet (retd.) would be the key speakers of this session,” said Siddharth Deshmukh, President, Indo-Japan Business Council.
Ms. Tomo Kawane, an authority on India-Japan relations and independent consultant, and Abhishek Choudhary, Vice-President, IJBC would jointly compare the first session.
An expert in multiple languages including Hindi, and Gujarati, Ms. Kawane has been supporting the IJBC in a big way had made a special presentation in Hindi languages on ‘India Japan: How Near, How Far’ in Konnichiwa Pune 2022 event in November 2021. It was then titled as भारत और जापान:करीब हैं लेकिन अभी भी दूर… ऐसा क्यों ? (インドと日本:近くても未だ遠い存在であるのはなぜ).
Having made its presence felt in the Japanese and Indian communities for its flagship annual event “Konnichiwa Pune”, the IJBC recently inked an agreement with IJL to organize six bi-monthly lectures during the year 2022, which IJBC in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai is celebrating as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
Siddharth Deshmukh said that the MoU signed between the two sides provisioned for mutual co-operation in the areas including maintaining a close relationship with scholars and intellectuals, supporting activities on India Japan cultural events in future, arranging lectures from notable people from business and academia, arranging student visit/exchange programs, and aiming for publishing research work that could influence local/central governments in India as well as facilitate the customization of India-specific programs initiated by Japan.
The remaining five sessions of the special lectures series are titled Information Technology in April, innovation, and industries; Business and innovation opportunities in June; Development perspectives in August; Climate change, disaster risks, and social innovation in October, and Culture, yoga, music in December.
