Strong India in the best interest of Japan, and robust, strong and prosperous Japan for Asia Pacific, world: Shinzo Abe
Abe suggested further strengthening QUAD and synergizing cooperation in the area of defence, cyber, outer space, and cutting-edge technologies.
NEW DELHI: Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan has said that Japan from the East and India from the west have provided freedom, democracy, and respect for human rights and rule of law to the entire Indo-pacific.
While addressing a virtual session organized by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) recently, Abe said that India and Japan together shall be part of the ‘Confluence of Two Seas’ which will be the lynchpin of future peace and security in the region.
The former Prime Minister of Japan also added that a strong India is in the best interest of Japan and a robust, strong, and prosperous Japan is in the best interest of the entire Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.
He was addressing a session titled ‘Vision on Future of India-Japan Strategic Partnership in this era of emerging opportunities’ during FICCI’s 94th Annual General Meeting when he acknowledged the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and thanked FICCI for felicitating him.
Abe suggested further strengthening QUAD and synergizing cooperation in the area of defense, cyber, outer space, and cutting-edge technologies. He added that it is the democratic principles of Indian and Japan that will propel the relations between the two countries.
Uday Shankar, President of FICCI said that the last few years have seen an impressive expansion and deepening of India’s ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’ with Japan.
He said that leadership in both countries has worked diligently towards cementing the relations and synergizing India’s demographic dividend with Japan’s capital and technology, for a prosperous future. He further added that going forward, India and Japan have a great opportunity with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
“Excellency Abe has not only reshaped Japan’s economy with his signature growth strategy of ‘Abenomics’ along with a mix of bold quantitative easing, fiscal spending, and structural reforms but also took Japan’s global outreach to the next level. Likewise, he has played a stellar role in building economic relationships between Japan and India which has steadily expanded and deepened over the years,” said Uday Shankar.
Subhrakant Panda, Vice President, FICCI thanked the Former Japanese Prime Minister and said that he will always be loved by the people of India for his leadership towards showcasing a bright future with unconditional Japanese cooperation and assurance of support to India. He commended the ‘Free and Open Indo Pacific’ philosophy which evolved during Excellency Abe’s Prime Ministership and has been one of the landmark initiatives towards global prosperity and security.
Panda further stated that FICCI has always been at the forefront of bringing Indian and Japanese people closer in terms of understanding each other’s culture through forums such as the India-Japan Friendship Forum (IJFF), India-Japan Forum of Parliamentarians, and India-Japan Business Cooperation Committee.
