Taiwan, Japan to create Win-Win-Win situation together with India

Taiwanese companies are going to interact closely with Japanese giants – Marubeni, Sumitomo, others which are already active in India for years, and share their experiences to create Win-Win-Win situation in India.

NEW DELHI: The world’s major technology powerhouse Taiwan is seriously looking at creating a new tri-partite supply-chain cluster together with Japanese and Indian companies in India. Some of the major Taiwanese companies are meeting Japanese giants – Marubeni and Sumitomo, and others to create a new concept ‘3-Way Win-Win’ situation in India.

These close-range business meetings between Taiwanese and Japanese companies have been planned on the very first day of the 3-day Taiwan Expo starting in New Delhi on July 8. As many as 120 Taiwanese companies are participating in this expo.

According to Keven Cheng, Deputy Executive Director, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Taiwanese and Japanese companies will interact closely and share their experience in India during the “Taiwan-Japan Cooperation in Developing the Indian Market Matching Session.”

“Taiwanese and Japanese companies have some similarity in the supply chain we can complement. So, at the seminar, we will share experience with the local suppliers.  Through this seminar and cooperation with plan to create a 3-Way Win-Win situation with India and create a new opportunity with India,” Cheng told Asian Community News (ACN) Network on the side-lines of the pre-expo press conference in New Delhi on Thursday.

While talking about this 3-way Win-Win model, Cheng said that such a project in was implemented in several countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. It’s now being implemented in India.

According to Taiwanese officials, Taiwan and Japan enjoy century-old deep rooted history of bilateral trade, and therefore feel comfortable transacting with each other. Taiwan plans to take this synergy forward and leverage it in India, which is all set to be impact the future global supply chain and is on its way of becoming manufacturing hub.

It is a significant move towards strengthening economic ties and enhancing trade cooperation as Taiwan and Japan are set to collaborate more closely in developing the Indian market.

The upcoming session aims to leverage such successful collaborations, focusing on sectors like electronics and smart mobility. The seminar, to be held at Hall 2, Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, will feature an array of presentations and matchmaking opportunities for businesses from both countries. Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is facilitating Japanese companies for interactions.

The event will commence with opening and welcome remarks by Robert Hsieh, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, and Ms. Kyoko Hokugo, Minister (Economic and Development) at the Embassy of Japan. Following the opening remarks, presentations from private companies will provide valuable insights into the market dynamics and cooperation opportunities.

Sandeep Singh, Assistant Director of JETRO New Delhi, will provide an overview of Japanese companies operating in India. Takafumi Toyoda, Project Manager at Marubeni (India), will discuss experiences in the Indian market and cooperation opportunities. Manish Sharma, Chairman of Panasonic Life Solutions India, will share insights on business expansion and the Indian market. Ms. Rachna Kango, Director of Strategic Marketing at Delta Electronics India, will present on business expansion and market insights. Ms. Tzu-Chi Kung, CEO of Ahamani EV Technology, will speak on expanding into overseas markets. Prateek Lohiya, GM at Sumitomo (India), and Toshiaki Oi, Sales and Marketing Head at MIPC, will discuss business expansion in India and Taiwan-Japan cooperation opportunities.

The session will also provide a platform for one-on-one business matchmaking, targeting industries such as electronics, smart mobility, smart manufacturing, and others. This initiative underscores the commitment of both Taiwan and Japan to explore and expand their business horizons in India, leveraging each other’s strengths to create synergies in the dynamic Indian market.
