Taiwan’s Asia University, Gujarat’s Karnavati University collaborate on academic advancements

NEW DELHI: Gujarat’s Karnavati University has joined hands with Taiwan’s Asia University to enable both institutions to collaborate on academic advancements through physical or virtual student exchanges, internships, and other opportunities for students to experience studying and working together on various research projects.  

Karnavati University, a prestigious institution in Gujarat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to this effect with Asia University in an online ceremony held on June 23.

The online event was attended by the President of Asia University, Prof. Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Karnavati University Prof. Rajesh S, Director of Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in India, Peters Chen and Deans, faculty members of both institutions.

Karnavati University is an emerging institution in the fields of Dentistry, Design, Law, Business, etc., and offers a variety of courses to its students.

Asia University, on the other hand, is the number one private university in Taiwan and has been ranked 139th according to the 2021 Times Higher Education university ranking in Asia. Through this academic collaboration, students from Asia University will have the opportunity to study here in India, and similarly, students from Karnavati University will be able to experience studying in Taiwan and learn more about the culture and language of the country.

Peters Chen in his remarks mentioned how this academic partnership will enable both institutions to collaborate on academic advancements through physical or virtual student exchanges, internship opportunities, and so on.

It will provide new opportunities for students to experience studying and working together on various research projects. Furthermore, Director Chen expressed his enthusiasm to set up a Taiwan Education Center at Karnavati University and to have a Taiwanese teacher at the campus to provide Mandarin course and scholarship information which will encourage students and motivate them to undertake their further studies in Taiwan and in Asia University.

More and more universities are keen to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era. Such an academic partnership has come as a positive step at a time when the Indian Government is looking for internationalization and ranking of its HEIs, according to NEP 2020. Karnavati University has provided a leading example to other Indian Universities to look at Taiwan for its academic excellence and world-class infrastructure. The universities further hope that this is just the beginning of their friendship and that they may collaborate on many more projects in the future.
