This Crisis Be Compassionate, Step Forward, Reach Out to Help Those in Need
By Munish Chawla
The ongoing crisis has brought in focus the compassionate side of many of us. We have seen the heart-warming stories of people reaching out to the less fortunate abound during the ongoing pandemic.
Across India, many Philanthropy Organizations & Individuals have been at the forefront of charity work. From donating home-cooked meals to migrant workers to offering financial support to daily wage workers, many came forward in this crisis and contributed their bit. In times of crisis like the present one, compassion has unified us all.
Since the onset of the ongoing crisis, Saving Lives and Saving Livelihood has been the focus of all. Our Startup Jeevitam, a Livelihood Platform for the vulnerable segments of the society, has suddenly come into center stage. We have been working with Government Bodies, Industry Associations, and Philanthropy Organizations to help vulnerable segments find Sustainable Livelihood for their Security & Dignity. While working with many of these Philanthropy Organizations I was amazed to see the kind of work they have been doing to help people in need because of the ongoing crisis. Compassion which means a willingness to give, I believe has been the driving force behind all the work being done by them.
If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion ~ Dalai Lama. These words are instructive because they refer to the emotional benefits of compassion to both the giver and recipient.
In other words, the rewards of practicing compassion work both ways. I think to feel sympathy for someone is just not enough. We must also be willing to take action. I believe a single act of compassion can change a person’s life forever.
If we take it upon ourselves to show compassion, even in little ways, we can make a tremendous impact in the lives of others. I have experienced how rewarding life can be when we sincerely make the effort to bring hope and opportunity to those facing challenges in the present crisis. This Ongoing Crisis requires all of us to step forward, reach out, be compassionate, and help as many in need.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!
