NEW DELHI: In a major policy decision to ensure India sends more skilled youths to Japan, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has for the first time decided to ease norms for the Japanese companies to empanel for the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and become the Sending Organisations (SOs) in India.

For this, the Japanese firms with origin in Japan, or their joint venture or subsidiary companies in India would not have to tread the time-taking RFP (Request for Proposal) route to qualify to become Sending Organisations (SOs).

A simple mail along with basic documents exhibiting their interest to become SO would be sufficient to enter into a contract with NSDC.

NSDC has also invited the already established foreign SOs situated in any part of the world and sending skilled people successfully to Japan under TITP, they too need not take the RFP route to become SOs in India.

A simple application along with the company credentials that are required for the contract signing would be sufficient to become SOs. Those interested can send their applications to Ms. Ritu Agarwal, Country Head, Japan, Russia and Southeast Asia at ritu.agarwal@nsdcindia.org

The decision to empanel the Japanese firms with origin in Japan, or their subsidiary companies or joint venture firms in India directly as SOs in India was taken for very obvious reasons.

Such firms already have their offices in Japan, they are well versed with the Japanese culture and other requirements related to the skill sets of the youths, which needs to be sent to Japan under TITP. It would be very easy for them to create demand for skilled youths as the needs of the industry in Japan.

Also the SOs of any country of origin such as those located in Vietnam, China, or the Philippines, and if they have successfully placed skilled people in Japan under TITP, would also be empaneled directly without the RFP route, and tedious procedural delays.

According to NSDC, the Indian companies opting to become SOs would have to apply through the RFP and also go through the well-laid down procedure of making, etc.
