To Lose Patience is to Lose Battle: Mahatma Gandhi
By Munish Chawla
*Have Patience* A crisis has the power to bring people closer and can drive home hard lessons. We all are learning to Have Patience and it’s indeed a tough lesson. Patience for me is the ability to endure a long wait calmly or deal with annoying problems without frustration. For Aristotle, patience was bitter but the fruit it bore was sweet.
For Tolstoy, it was one of the two most powerful warriors, with the other being time. For Lao Tzu, it was one of the three greatest treasures to have, along with compassion and simplicity. When we face a situation like the present ongoing crisis, we need to remember that we all have an unlimited supply of patience available to us, it’s just that we need not Lose Patience.
To Lose Patience is to Lose the Battle ~ Mahatma Gandhi. We all have been under the viral grip for months. And as we take baby steps to normality, rushing into festivities and going back to old ways of doing things is good. But I believe if we lose Patience & the dare to the viral grip, it’s days of solitary confinement and suffering, that I hear, none — not even our family or the friends will be able to help us through. Besides, even when we have all the information and we do understand the need to Have Patience and are ready to follow the social distancing norms. But our emotions, ego’s, and our false pretense to be in control come into the picture and the concept to Have Patience just goes into thin air.
To Have Patience for me is, in a sense, a simple recognition that things do take time. That achieving success, building relationships, acquiring a new skill set, creating a business — it all takes time. It takes an ability & willingness to be frustrated, to overcome difficulties, and to persevere. In our Startup Jeevitam, it has been a long journey of Hard Work, Compassion, Simplicity, Perseverance & Patience. Over the years we have learned that when we Have Patience, we see increases in our creativity, productivity, and collaboration. And when we Rush, sadly, we don’t see many benefits. So when anyone of you is thinking about that next career move, that new relationship, that new opportunity, that existing business: Bide Your Time & Have Patience.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!
