Two more Japanese robbed, Thak Thak gang strikes again in Gurgaon
Earlier too, hardly 17 days back, the same gang had targeted another Japanese national Go Kawamura, smashed the windowpanes of his car and fled with his laptop, iPhone and important documents.
New Delhi. Two more Japanese nationals were robbed of their laptops, passports, documents, and cash in Gurgaon reportedly by the members of notorious Thak Thak (Knock Knock) gang recently. The gang smashed the windowpanes of their cars parked on the heavily busy MG Road and ran away with the booty.
Earlier too, hardly 17 days back, the same gang had targeted another Japanese national Go Kawamura, smashed the windowpanes of his car and fled with his laptop, iPhone and important documents after he had gone to a restaurant on Delhi-Jaipur expressway. He was on his way back from the company’s plant in Bawal to Gurgaon on March 30.
Thak Thak gang which is currently very active in Delhi and NCR towns like Gurgaon and Noida is known for his modus operandi of stealing valuables from the parked cars by smashing windowpanes with slingshots. The gang is also known for robbing the people by tricking the car drivers and fleeing with the valuables and cash lying in the vehicles. They, however, have not harmed any human being so far.
The latest incident happened on even after the local police recently claimed to have busted Thak Thak gang and arrested it’s kingpin last week.
This incident was reported on Wednesday (April 17) evening on the busy MG Road where two Japanese executives visited a restaurant for dinner at the Plaza Mall as their cars were parked outside in the service lane. Both had come riding two separate cars. Both the car drivers locked the vehicles and went to a roadside eatery to fetch some meal for self.
According to the police officials, the miscreants suspected to be the members of Thak Thak gang smashed the rear windowpanes of the cars probably with a slingshot and fled with the two bags lying on the rear seat of the vehicles.

One of the two Japanese nationals, Makoto Iwamoto from Hiroshima told the police that as he returned from the restaurant along with his friend, he found the windowpanes of both the cars smashed and the two bags containing laptops, passports, documents, and cash were missing.
As they alerted the police, the latter came and started enquiring people on the spot but to no avail.
Both the Japanese had visited India last week only and had been staying in a hotel in IMT Manesar.
Interestingly, one more person – an Indian national too found his belongings and cash missing from his car in the similar fashion on the same evening, when he parked his car opposite Grand Mall on MG road only, less than a kilometer from Plaza Mall.
Chetan Jamwal, a fitness trainer had parked his car outside the Grand Mall where about two dozen cars were already parked. As he returned from the mall, he was shell shocked to find the windowpanes of his cars smashed and two of his bags containing documents and cash were missing.
Jamwal told the police that he had gone to the mall only for 15 minutes, and clever Thak Thak gang that was probably monitoring his activities closely struck so promptly and gave shape to the crime in shortest possible time.
It is because of the increased strikes by the Thak Thak gang that the police has started alerting the people and giving tips on the FM radio stations.
The tips include:
- The people should always park their cars in the authorised parking lots, not on roadside and dark patches.
- Never leave behind laptop or handbags on the seats of their cars as these remain visible to the miscreants from outside and invite their attention.
- Always keep the bags either under the car seats or in the locked boot area.
- Never leave cash behind in the unattended cars.
- Direct the drivers not to leave the car if it has valuables in it.
- The driver should never fall prey to the tricks of the strangers who may distract your mind.
- Never slide down the window glasses if a stranger knocks the window on the pretext of asking address or for begging.
