Women entrepreneurs get empowered, CTI Women Council launched

With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the women traders, micro entrepreneurs and businesswomen in Delhi have finally had their say.

The traders body Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has launched its Women Council to echo the voice of women traders and businesswomen in Delhi and NCR towns.

Former media professional, entrepreneur and social activist Neha Tandon was announced as the president of this women outfit, and Malvika Sawhney – an educationist and Kamal Sharma media as the general secretary. The brand communication consultant and entrepreneur Kamal Sharma will be playing a major role in the Women Council.

The Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was also present at the launch of CTI Women Council at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on Sunday when he gave away recitations to the women entrepreneurs for their valuable contributions.

The Women Council of Chamber of Trade and Industry has representations of over 400 women entrepreneurs from varied industries including educations, fashion, social service, law, civil defense, media, skill development and corporate world.

According to Neha Tandon the Women Council will work in Delhi-NCR for the women traders and entrepreneurs facing hardship and other issues. She said that the Woman Council will prove to be a significant platform for all women entrepreneurs.

While interacting with media, Manish Sisodia said despite rapid modernization the girls continued face discrimination whether in the field of education or upbringing at home.

A major section of the women society are into trade and business and faced a whole lot of problems but lacked an effective platform to address their issues, de said.

Sisodia emphasized on the need for imparting skill education to the girls and boys in class 10 to 12 to make them self-reliant.

Brajesh Goyal, the chief of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, said that during the sealing drive in Delhi the women traders whose business establishments and shjops were sealed found it difficult to address their concern.

Women will now raise their voices through Women Council and a membership campaign will be run to connect more women in days to come, he added.

Brajesh Goyal said about five lakh women were currently into business in Delhi-NCR.

They will try to connect with the Women Council so that the problems of women could be heard by the government.
