World of Japan coming to India to make ‘Namaste Japan Fest’ happen

NEW DELHI. After the grand success of the first event last year, the ‘Namaste Japan Fest 2020 is back again with new attractions and colors from Japan’s Fukuoka.
Coming February 9, the Sunday, the Garden of Five senses in Saket, New Delhi would witness the world of Japan converging with a variety of rich Japanese culture, artistic forms, food & beverages, and heritage.
The visitors can enjoy the splurge of traditional and contemporary Japanese food and beverages including alcoholic drinks like Umeshu, the Japanese traditional liquor made from green plum, sugar and clear liquor like Shochu (or Sake).
The visitors at Namaste Japan Fest 2020 can also enjoy trying their hands on the making of the rice ball, also called ONIGIRI, the typical triangular rice ball, or cylinder shapes usually wrapped with nori, the dried seaweed.
On the platter for the food lovers would be the momos, noodles, green tea and also Indian Kulhar (earthen pot) tandoori tea on the occasion to keep you warm in the chilly winter.
One of the major attractions this time is the Japanese Bon Odori dance, also called Bon dance. It is a style of dancing performed during Obon festivities held in the middle of August every year in Japan. It’s originally a Nenbutsu folk dance to welcome the spirits of the ancestors.
You also enjoy wearing the Japanse traditional dress Kimono and Yukata and get selfies with your friends.
“A troupe of more than two dozen Japanese artists is flying in to make the Namaste Japan Fest 2020 a memorable event for the visitors that include Indians from cross-sections as well as Japanese. One of the attractions will be Odori dance by Japanese artists, Japanese traditional guitar playing, Japanese drums, karate, etc.,” said Dharmendra Kumar, Chairman, Namaste Japan Fest Executive Committee that is organizing the event.
The co-organizers of the event are the Government of NCT and Delhi Tourism & Transport Development Corporation. Fukuoka Prefecture, Ochamura Ltd. Japan Foundation and the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) are supporting the event.

Another attraction of the event is going to be the Indian dance by Japanese kids. The students of DPS Gautam Budh Nagar will perform Japanese dance. A New Delhi-based Japanese would be enthralling the audience with Odissi dance. A Mumbai based boy is likely to sing Indian and Japanese songs.
