Young Indian women 20-39yrs invited to contest Miss Sake India pageant in Mumbai

The winner would act like a goodwill ambassador to promote the Japanese traditional rice wine ‘Sake’ and Japanese culture in Japan and abroad.

MUMBAI: Mumbai, the financial capital of India and better known as home for Bollywood, is going to host 2024 Miss Sake India pageant on 9th February. For this, the Indian young women aged between 20 and 39 have been invited to contest the beauty pageant. The winner would represent India in the forthcoming Miss Sake World pageant being organized in Japan in June this year.

The winner of the coveted Miss Sake India crown would act like a goodwill ambassador with a sense of beauty and intelligence to promote the appeal of traditional Japanese traditional rice wine ‘Sake’ and Japanese culture in Japan and abroad.

After selection, the Miss Sake India I will have the opportunity of visiting various places and attending events related to the Japanese Sake and culture.

She will get a chance to go to Japan for joining cultural training session with other Miss Sake queens from all over the world, and also join Miss Sake World pageant in Japan in June 2024.

Who can apply

・Must be an Indian citizen  ・Must have a passport of Indian nationality
・Be in good health, free from infection or disease ・Must be a woman between the ages of 20 and 39 years ・Preference will be given to natural beauty and a well-defined body shape ・Must be unmarried ・Must be able to meet time and deadlines ・Must have a state-recognized identity card ・Must be able to attend the selection meeting ・Knowledge of Japanese culture and language is an advantage・Ability to read and write English

The Miss SAKE pageant is organized by Miss SAKE, a general incorporated association, and has conducted more than 400 activities a year to promote Japanese food, culture, and tourism to other countries around the world using Japanese sake as a mouthpiece.

Currently, this organization is engaged in promoting Sake and Japan’s attractions, and has been involved in projects related to the Japanese local food and agriculture. It hopes that the Miss Sake queens can make Japanese cultural exchange and business exchange (especially consumption) more active with Japanese sake which is rich in tradition and culture.

In the year 2020, India hosted Miss Sake pageant for the first time in New Delhi when Upasna Gurung, the 26-year-old girl from India’s north eastern state Nagaland had won first Miss Sake India 2020 title.

Sae Haruta, Miss Sake Japan 2019 had crowned Upasna with the honor as she broke into tears after being announced the winner of the contest at The Kimono Club in New Delhi on February 21.

Mika Onishi, Director, Miss Sake Association was also present onm the occasion alongside the Jury members Kenji Sugino, Secretary-General, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), Sae Haruta, Miss Sake Japan 2019, TV news anchor Sumaira Khan, and pageant coach and mentor Rita Gangwani.
